Denver Nugget’s Chris ‘The Birdman’ Anderson is a bad boy

Chris ‘The Birdman’ Andersen is currently the 2nd leader in block averaging 2.42 per game. That adds bad boy points. His current statistics of 5.68 blocks per 48 minutes played is also the best in NBA and that’s additional bad boy points. He just came from a 2-year suspension by violating NBA’s anti-drug policy, and adds a number of bad boy points. Plus the countless tattoos all over his 6’10″ body garners a lot of bad boy points as well.

Btw, he’s one of those guys punishing the Mavericks so he’s totally a bad boy.

Fred Roach, Mayweather Sr. post-fight Interview

Sorry guys but I just can’t stop talking about the recent boxing event last weekend in Las Vegas. Really I can’t stop yet.

Anyway, you might be also waiting to hear from Mayweather because we all know he just suddenly disappeared after seeing his boy Ricky Hatton lying flat on the canvas. But apparently some ninja skilled reporters still managed to catch him for a post-fight interview.

Hatton might consider retirement, take the avenue of promotion

Ricky Hatton on one of his pre-fight interviews.

Ricky Hatton on one of his pre-fight interviews.

After a 2-round TKO defeat from opponent Manny Pacquiao, the British brawler Ricky Hatton admits in an interview that he was devastated and still undecided if he’s gonna fight again after the last. Hatton also told Sky Sport in an interview that he had not anticipated the left hook that destroyed him on the 2nd round.

He also added that if they have only gone a few rounds more, the result might be different, but Manny caught him with the ‘first punch’ he practically threw. That’s what he said. But he also added that he’d rather like what happened, knocked out in 2 rounds, than have had been outclassed by Manny Pacquiao the whole 12 rounds. I think he has a point.

I’ve lost twice and I’ve lost to the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world, it’s not a bad way of looking at it, but I’m devastated. I would not have put my money on that happening.

- Ricky Hatton

When asked about Mayweather Sr.’s suggestion to retire, he said:

I really don’t know at the minute, because I never thought that was ever going to happen. But people are still going to see plenty of me.

I’ve been a great world champion, I’ve been the best in the world, and I think I can be the best promoter in the world and I think that is the avenue I want to go down.

GMA7, Solar Sports could just be using Manny Pacquiao’s fight for Ad returns

I’ve written so many times before about the annoying and lengthy ad placements they put on Manny Pacquiao’s fights and they never listened. Why would they bother anyway?

At least I’ve tried my best to give them some options to get their coverage of the fight better and more favorable to the fans.

  • Insert the commercials every two rounds of the fight will be an improvement.
  • Keep the ads all over the screen leaving at least 1/4th of the screen for the fight could be a better option. They’re after the returns after all.
  • Since they are very proud to announce that they are the official media partner of the fight, they can offer the fight for free. Not a good option for them, but the bottom line is that they must deliver the fight to the public in a favorable 2-way benefit. Whatever!

So they did not listen and now people are annoyed. They just broke the heart of the million fans of Manny Pacquiao yesterday. [Inquirer]

Mayweather Sr. just can’t stop his trashtalk

floyd mayweather srAfter his camps defeat, the 56-year old boxing coach, Floyd Mayweather Sr., told press that his boy Ricky Hatton should end his career after last night’s fight against the best pound-for-pound champ Manny Pacquiao.

“I would suggest he retire. At the end of the day, it’s his decision. He tried twice. He failed twice. He lose to my son and to lose to someone below that, it’s time to leave the ring. He made a good profit. Sometimes you have to go when your prime is still there”, Mayweather Sr added in an interview.

Wait. Did I get it right? Manny Pacquiao is still ranked below his son Floyd Jr.?

He was trash-talking against Roach’s camp even before during the training period, and yet until now he just can’t stop. Isn’t he the one who needs retirement? I think he just can’t teach right techniques to his boys, does he?

Meanwhile, if Floyd Mayweather Jr. will ever dream of fighting Manny Pacquiao after his fight against Juan Manuel Marquez in July, he might just keep on dreaming. “Floyd Jr. is afraid to face Manny Pacquiao, Roach said. If Cotto wants to come down a few pounds or if Shane Mosley wants to come down a few pounds, we can make that happen.”, the three time best trainer of the year added. [source]

Pacquiao takes Hatton in the 2nd Round

Ricky Hatton chose the perfect place to lay himself on.

Ricky Hatton chose the perfect place to lay himself on.

Manny Pacquiao once again proved that he’s not just a boxer but a very good boxer. Pacquiao dominated over Ricky Hatton from the start of Round 1, giving a countless number of fatal blows, two of which made the British fighter kissed the canvas.

Now, Pacquiao didn’t just proved that he’s a better boxer, but also told his opponent that being strong and durable of punches cannot win over him. Ricky Hatton is often known for his agressiveness and ability to take powerful punches from his opponents and be able to win in the end, but this time he ate too much than he could chew which is bad. Hatton ended up lying right in the middle of the ring after taking the most tasteful punch from Pacquiao in round 2.

He could have lasted up to round 3 if he just covered himself in the last seconds instead of fighting back. But then, he will still lose.

Dallas Mavericks leads 3-1

dallas mavericksMy favorite NBA team took the 3-1 lead over San Antonio Spurs lat April 25th, but this isn’t a time to celebrate yet. The Mavericks has a bad history in terms of Playoffs game. They haven’t made it to the playoffs since 2006. During that postseason, Mavericks played on the final against Miami Heat. They lead the finals 2-0 but consecutively lost 4 games. During that postseason as well, they had a lot of struggles to advance the playoff against the same team San Antonio Spurs. What makes it even similar situation is that they also took 3-1 lead, and still the SAS was able to tie it up. Mavericks got game 7 via overtime.

I hope Mavericks has learned their lesson well and advance to the finals.
